KLM Engine Services

We envisioned a new digital supply chain for KLM Engine Services. The goal was to fit all the pieces in the supply chain smoothly together to make the timelines shorter and to digitise time consuming parts in the process. And to make life easier for employees and customers of course ;) We helped KLM to create a framework with digital themes that would help improve their supply chain step by step. This was really a cool research and strategic project where I was doing contextual research and interviews in the hangars at Schiphol between the aircrafts. For me this was a complete new world to explore and therefore a very challenging and interesting project. Especially the co-creation sessions with the engineers and specialists gave us so many interesting input and trust to move things forward.

The goal

In the extremely competitive market of aircraft maintenance, speed on turnaround times is crucial. By digitizing its core processes, KLM Engine Services aims to deliver its B2B customers a fast engine repair process which complies with its high quality and safety standards.

The challenge

A multitude of actors and systems involved in modern supply chains make optimization hard to achieve without an outside-in view. Many companies’ challenge is to understand and fulfil employees’ needs. How to involve them successfully so that they own the company vision?

Our approach

All key employees were shadowed and involved in co-creation and validation sessions. As a result, we presented digital concepts for a future optimised supply chain to the management and employees. These concepts are currently being developed and the first MVP has been successfully launched.
